Guided Meditations to Soothe Your Busy Mind

Yes, yes, we know meditation is good for us. Study after study demonstrates it. So why don’t we do it? Is it because we don’t want to sit with ourselves? Maybe. But it could also be that some of us with super active brains need a little more direction to get us to the chill zone. Like Waze, but for our minds.

So, if you’re like me, especially with this perimenopausal brain going every which way, consider this your invitation to press pause and tune into one of these meditations. You’ll be feeling good before you know it.

Lala Deliah
Signaling a NewTimeline

If you aren’t familiar with Lalah Deliah, get in the know. She’s a serial poster on Instagram, meaning you’ll get lots of luscious content in your feed, and she’s got a soothing voice that will settle you into your highest vibration. Translation: You’ll feel focused and empowered. This meditation was suggested by a friend and it’s one I return to again and again and again.

University of New Hampshire
Loving Kindness

Here’s the truth: We all get irritated with each other from time to time. There’re misunderstandings, conflict of interests, battles of the wills, etc, etc. That’s life. All that frustration can create a lot of energy directed outward, “If only he/she/they did x, y, z.” When we turn inward and shift the energy we’re putting out towards that person, we actually grow our capacity to feel good about life again. Give it a try with the loving kindness meditation from the University of New Hampshire’s Youtube channel. It has more than one million downloads, so that’s a lot of good energy out there! Note: This can be a challenging meditation if you’re prone to self-criticism. If that describes you, Click here for tips

Plum Village
Walking Meditation

Don’t feel like sitting still? A walking meditation might be for you. Guided by Buddhist monks, the meditations on Plum Village’s free app honor the spirit and teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, including his love for walking meditations. So grab your shoes, pop in your airpods, and head out the door. Not only will you find peace of mind, you may even hit your step goals for the day. That’s a win-win.

I hope these meditations help you find the peace, groundedness, and deep cleansing breaths you need. Have a favorite meditation of your own? Tag us on Instagram @jennifer_magazine so we can check it out.
